Spotted Crake, Brandon Marsh N.R. - the bird remained in cover throughout the day, only showing for a brief period early morning and evening

Monday 28th March 2011

After a nine hour wait, not all of which was spent in the East Marsh hide, the Spotted Crake emerged from the Phragmites to the left of East Marsh hide. Other species seen during the day included Willow warbler ( first of the year), Cetti's warbler, Sand Martin C70, Little Egret, Oystercatcher 5, Kingfisher, Treecreeper, Redshank and LRPlover.

  1. Luck or what, Bob? Part of me wishes I had stayed but 8 hours of looking at foggy reeds then sunny reeds was soul destroying! Hopefully, it will stay around for a bit as next time for trying will be Thursday. I would be well pleased to get similar images.

  2. Hi Bob,cheers for the birthday wishes mate! You doing Shetland again this year?

  3. Well done Bob.I got it briefly on Tuesday.

  4. Hi Guys, Kevin, am I a lucky birder or what, hope it stays till tomorrow for you.
Dave, must be closing in on reaching old bugger status.Yes I'll be going to Harry Shetters again in October if its half as good as last year that'll be fine.
Max,glad you saw it. Its a beautiful bird but when you're desperate to get a shot you dont always appreciate it. Unless you get a great shot of course.
