Friends

Thursday 2nd April 2009
Had a bit of catching up to do today as I had other commitments on April 1st. No joke with a few good birds in the County. So started off at Middleton Hall lake where the Cattle Egret (129)finally put in an appearance. The bird drew a steady stream of admirers including a good many friends from the West Mids. The bird would go missing for an hour or so but would eventually return to the field with the Highland cattle next to the lake. Other birds at Middleton included Green Sandpiper, Swallow, Raven, Peregrine, Redwing c10,Nuthatch, Common Buzzard c6, Common Snipe and Blackcap.

Kingsbury Water Park was uninspiring although a Willow tit posed beautifully for the camera at Broomy Croft and a drake Goldeneye was accompanied by a Harem of 8 females on Cliff pool. The numbers of Swallows had also increased.
Photo of the Buzzard was taken in Cuttle Mill Lane through the car windscreen!
Coton lakes were also very Quiet
Ladywalk was more interesting with several Brambling still coming to the feeding station. At hide B were 2 Green Sandpipers and 2 Redshank and a Kingfisher. The Tawny Owl was still in residence and a couple of Goosander flew down the river.
